Bringing Racing to the Upper Bay.........and beyond!

Three GRF Skippers

make a race

The 2007 Annapolis to Newport Race.

Three GRF Boats made the Annapolis to Newport Race this year and put a thrashing on em'.

And we couldn't be prouder.

Grey Ghost skippered byPhil Parish, Actaea skippered by Michael Cone, and Sabrina skippered by Richard Kinard all sailed in PHRF III.

In an outstanding set of results Grey Ghost won her class with a 4th overall, Actaea came in 2nd in class and 17th overall, while Sabrina unfortunately was forced to withdraw but hung in there longer than many.

Grey Ghost was also part of the Cruising Club of America team beating out 8 other teams for the City of Annapolis Trophy.

In Actaea news, she was one of the last out of the bay and took a beating from Barry. Whether they knew it or not, an awful lot of people were cheering them on, tracking the weather and guesstimating wave heights of 15-19 feet.

 To quote my friend OceanBien

"This race is always interesting with 3 legs, Chesapeake Bay, Atlantic leg, then approaches to Block Island & Narragansett.
Add a gale warning, and you've got a race!"

Congratulations to all three Skippers and crew!
